MTO News reads every message. This page explains the fastest route for each kind of enquiry, and what you can expect once you have written to us.
Story tips and confidential information
If you have information you believe should be public — a document, a dataset, a pattern you have noticed inside an organisation — we want to hear from you. Tell us what the material is, how you came to have it, and whether you are willing to be named. We do not publish on the strength of a single unverified claim; expect us to ask for corroboration. We protect the identity of sources who ask for anonymity, and we will discuss with you in advance how any material would be described. If your position could be put at risk by contacting us, consider using a personal device on a network unconnected to your employer.
Corrections and clarifications
If you believe something we have published is wrong, incomplete or unfairly framed, contact us with the article title, the specific passage, and the evidence you would like us to consider. We treat correction requests as a priority. Where a factual error is confirmed we amend the article, note the change, and log it on the Corrections page. Where we disagree with a complaint we will say so and explain the reasoning rather than leaving it unanswered.
Press offices and right of reply
We approach organisations for comment before publishing anything critical, and we set a deadline that is realistic for the story. If you represent an organisation and want to respond to something already published, send your statement and tell us whether it is for publication in full. Substantive responses are added to the article body, not buried at the foot of the page.
Advertising and partnerships
Commercial enquiries, including display advertising, newsletter placement and content partnerships, are handled separately from the newsroom. Please see Advertise for formats, standards and what we will not accept. Advertising enquiries sent to editorial addresses are forwarded, not answered.
Reader feedback and story requests
Requests for coverage genuinely shape what we publish. If a subject affecting your household, sector or region is being ignored, tell us what you think is being missed and what you would want explained. We cannot answer every message individually, but we read all of them and they inform our commissioning.
What we cannot help with
We are a news publication, not an advisory service. We cannot give personalised financial, tax, mortgage, pension, legal or investment advice, recommend products, intervene in disputes with a company or public body, or provide investment tips. For regulated financial guidance in the UK, MoneyHelper and the Financial Conduct Authority register are the right starting points, and for consumer disputes the relevant ombudsman scheme.
Response times
We aim to acknowledge correction requests within two working days and other enquiries within five. Volume can stretch that. If a matter is urgent because a deadline or legal timescale is involved, please say so clearly in your first line.
